IMI presents: "Speaker Series - Wireless Network Security & Web Security"
    Location: NKU METS Center
Abstract: Part of the IMI Webcast Series. Hetal Jasani presents Wireless Network Security (10 a.m. - 12 p.m.) Wi-Fi technologies in the workplace are poised to replace traditional wired networks in the foreseeable future. Many organizations are quickly implementing policies and deploying solutions to support their mobile workforce. Threats such as viruses, trojans, and hackers are at the top of the list when organizations attempt to deploy secure wireless networks. This session outlines the authentication, security, cryptography, configuration, and hardware choices to ensure best practice wireless deployments.
    A boxed lunch will be provided (12 - 1 p.m.)
James Walden hosts a workshop on Web Security (1 - 4 p.m.) The most common software vulnerabilities are found in web applications: cross-site scripting (XSS) and SQL injection. The number of reported software vulnerabilities since 2004 have doubled; largely a result of these bugs, examples of which are taught as good coding practice in many textbooks. Participants will learn penetration testing, code review techniques, tools for finding SQL injection, and XSS vulnerabilities. More importantly, they will also learn how to write code without such vulnerabilities.
